Light Touch PLD specialises in architectural, interior and landscape lighting design. The firm is geared towards markets in the Middle East, but it also works in partnership with Project Lighting Design who are based in Singapore. Additionally, two brand new design studios have opened in London and Bangkok to encourage international collaboration within the firm.
Light Touch PLD has a combined resource of 60 experienced lighting personnel from various backgrounds, including architects, interior designers, product designers, lighting engineers and lighting designers. Much of the work is conducted under the guidance of Lighting Designer & Partner Paul Miles. Paul Miles has been working in the lighting industry for over a decade. Over the course of his career, Paul has gained valuable experience working in many aspects of lighting, which includes but is not limited to: Project Management, Lighting Consultancy, Independent Lighting Design & Working for world renowned European Luminaire Manufacturers.
Paul relocated to the Middle East from the UK in 2007. Initially, he developed a lighting design department for WSP Middle-East. After the successful completion of various projects including the interior FOH Mall areas of Mirdif City Centre, Paul was appointed Principal Lighting Designer and Partner at Light Touch PLD L.L.C. The company has since gone from strength to strength. Paul said:
“My key responsibility was to start and develop a lighting design team on behalf of WSP Middle-East. We developed a team of 4 people over a period of over 2 years and successfully completed a number of projects including one of the region’s largest malls in Mirdif City Centre (26m AED worth of lighting alone). Due to the success of the department this then inspired me to start Light Touch PLD. To this date WSP still remains a very key client to Light Touch PLD.”
He continued, and said:
“I am very proud of the development of Light Touch PLD, and the continued success we have experienced over the past 3 years. In 2012 the company’s turnover reached 4.5 million AED.”
Other members have also developed their expertise by working with the firm, and the staff team are finely tuned, well trained and multi-skilled.

The company has considerable expertise and experience covering areas of: Master Planning, Hospitality and Leisure, Commercial, Heritage, Retail, Civil, Institutional and Residential Projects. The business supplies developers, end users, architects, Interior Designers, and members of the hospitality industry, working in particular with a unique set of boutique hotels. The company has previously invested in, and worked with, Steven Gough- Associated Party in Singapore, the Abu Dhabi Hotel, and a large commercial project worth $5 Million. The firm connects to clients through a tender process in the UAE and in Singapore, using international manufacture and local distribution.
Light Touch PLD have taken considerable opportunities recently. In 2017, the firm found a platform to showcase a range of their lighting products as they presented at the Kazakhstan Energy Expo. It was a massive international exhibition, which attracted millions of people to Astana to share insights from the world of energy. Light Touch PLD made a statement post-expo. They said:
“We are very proud of the Light Touch PLD contribution, innovation and creativity of the team to realise the interior and exterior lighting of Astana EXPO 2017.”
“A huge well done to our Principal Designer on the project Mr. Andrea Acciarresi.”
The Expo welcomed visitors from fields of science, agriculture, information and communications, railroad, housing and utilities infrastructure, civil aviation, and also defense and aerospace industries. Information was shared with RK Ministry of Education and Science and Ministry of Energy.
Overall, 2017 was a particularly busy year for the company. Not only did Light Touch PLD partake in the Energy Expo: they were also shortlisted in the 2017 Light Middle East Awards. The company won an award in the Restaurant /Bar Lighting Project of the Year category for their project ‘Noir’ in the Palazzo Versace Hotel.
Paul Miles said Noir was a fantastic but challenging project to work on: that “the lavish finishes and the exuberant nature of the project allowed us to express our creativity.” Ultimately, bringing this project to completion was extremely satisfying. According to senior members, the “lighting design embraced the provocative nature of the of the bar, with dark finishes throughout, colourful artworks and unique projections featured on the wall of the terrace.” It has helped the company to cement their exclusive brand reputation in the world of designer lighting solutions.
In addition to the great news on project Noir, the company was thrilled to hear that the Fairmont Fujairah Beach Resort won ‘Leading New Hotel’ at The Leaders in Hospitality Awards 2017, presented by Rikan. The winners were announced on Wednesday 17 May at a gala ceremony at The St. Regis Dubai.
