A relaxing break in the picturesque Red Sea setting of Sharm El Sheikh, gives little indication of the fierce competition in Egypt’s popular destination resort. For Reef Oasis Hotels & Resorts, competing with rival hotels is a healthy activity, which has raised the levels of customer service for the unsuspecting tourist.
Amir Abdalla, Director of Sales for the past 5 years, is accustomed to the need to stay one step ahead of the market:
“Reef Oasis is a well known company especially in the UK market; we are pioneers in introducing the all-inclusive concept in the hotel business and work hard to maintain our position given the hard competition in Sharm El Sheikh, so we try to maintain our quality with reasonable prices,” he states.
The company’s hotels and resorts are located in prime locations, set amid lush landscaping, splendid waterfalls, creating the ambiance for the perfect holiday getaway.
Each resort offers a wide choice of accommodation tailored to suit every need, from spacious rooms to stylish, luxurious suites, equipped with the latest in-room features, coupled with a personalized service.
Reef Oasis facilities typically include holistic spas, diving centres and fully equipped Gym and Wellness Centers – a rejuvenation for body, mind and soul.
Sharm El Sheikh of course needs little introduction. The resort is situated on the Southern tip of Egypt’s Sinai Peninsula nestled between Mount Sinai and the Red Sea and has developed a global reputation for having some of the prime diving sites filled with its numerous reefs, which are populated by rare and beautiful coral and tropical fish.
The resort offers tourists a wide variety of activities, from sports and leisure, to investigating the cultural and historical links. With numerous white sandy beaches and an array of restaurants and cafes offering a variety of cuisines, to a wide range of sports activities, and a long list of ancient historical and cultural trips not to be missed; Sharm El Sheikh can guarantee appeal for everyone and is the perfect location for Reef Oasis.
With its overall headquarters in Cairo, Reef Oasis started by (Reef Oasis Beach Resort) 15 years ago, has been very successful in the Italian market and other countries in Europe, as Abdalla explains:
“We introduced the all-inclusive concept to Sharm. We have continued our success with Reef Oasis Blue Bay which was opened 2007 and is considered one of the most luxurious all-inclusive hotels in Sharm and has maintained a position in the top ten hotels in Trip advisor since its opening.
“We introduced our latest product (Sentido Reef Oasis Sense Resort) in 2011. The resort has 242 exclusive rooms and operates with very high standards – our upgraded all inclusive concept quickly gained this hotel an advanced rating in Trip Advisor (number 6). We still have 3 other products to present which are (Reef Oasis Eden Resort) and (Reef Oasis Majestic Resort) and finally (Reef Oasis Suakin Resort Marsa Alam),” he describes.
As one would expect of a high-end service, a lot of purchase is put on creating the perfect dining experience for visitors, with Reef Oasis Hotels & Resorts offering a global range of culinary delights, exclusively designed to suit every palate.
The Sharm El Sheikh venue boasts picturesque rooms and suites, a first-class spa offering holistic spa treatments, numerous pools including dedicated kid’s pools, and a range of gourmet restaurants offering guests delectable dining options.
In 2009 the hotel won a coveted Travelers’ Choice Award, before being nominated as the Best Family Hotel a year later.
With underwater attractions a major feature of the resort, the hotel chain has launched its Reef Oasis Dive Club, in collaboration with a number of serious scuba diving professionals who base themselves at the resort year after year.
Of course the successful running of operations requires highly-skilled staff, not just in terms of diving or cooking, but also customer service. Reef Oasis Hotels & Resorts employs in excess of 1,500 staff, with in-house training an important consideration, as Abdalla explains:
“It is very important to keep on training in order to keep on consistency in service standards and we do this though our human resources team, which includes a training manager. Each department has its own training programs which cover all the required aspects.
“Staffing is a big challenge – and there is a twin need to hire people with the right skills but also to retain the best-trained employees as our operations are busy all-year round.”
Whilst the company continues to enjoy growth, Abdalla is mindful of the importance of not becoming complacent, particularly given the popularity of Sharm El Sheikh:
“The hotelier industry is very fragile and is easily affected by any political situations – but the more you risk (in business) the more you can gain or lose. Our competition is very strong but we try to fly alone, we have our concept for maintaining good products and we are confident that we have found the right balance between our costs and delivering high quality, value for money solutions for our customers,” he asserts.
Delivering a high quality service in luxury surroundings is a formula that has worked very well for Reef Oasis Hotels & Resorts, it is a plan that Abdalla cautiously hopes can continue long into the future:
“We will develop further products for sure, with marketing campaigns, but all will be dependent on the political and economic situation,” he summarises.
